The first of the run’s white-lined pieces: a black handbuilt bowl that opens onto a creamy interior webbed with crazing and streaked with gloss, like the inside of a shell found in coal. Both photos hold the reversal — dark out, light in — and neither says what the lining is made of, because neither can.
What’s inside the black bowl? A cream interior, crackle-webbed, with glossy streaks catching the light — the look is documented, the material is not. Piece 1876 of 10,000, listed at $18.76.
