The range changes register: after seventeen painted cups comes a squat barrel that photographs like a riverbank stone. A thin milky sheen pools glossy at the rim and leaves matte bare sandy patches mid-flank; fine red-brown crazing veins spider one face; an iron-orange scorch line rings the foot; dark speckles pepper rim and interior. The walls dent and bulge, but the base disc shows clean concentric trimming rings, with “2118” handwritten across them.
Why does it look wet? The sheen — a translucent coat that goes glassy where it thickens at the rim, exactly like a stone pulled from the water. Piece 2118 of 10,000, listed at $21.18.
